How fashion dominated the Olympic opening ceremony
Held on the Seine on July 26, the Olympic opening ceremony gave great exposure to sponsor LVMH’s top brands: Performers Lady Gaga, Celine Dion Aya Nakamura, Juliette Armanet and Axelle Saint-Cirel all wore Dior. Olympic stylist and costume director Daphné Bürki also selected 15 up-and-coming designers to create costumes for the ceremony. One of them, Jeanne Friot, sculpted a metallic leather look for the ceremony’s Joan of Arc character. {Vogue Business/paywalled}
Tiffany & Co. and CFDA launch jewelry design award
The new Tiffany & Co. x CFDA Jewelry Designer Award will recognize American jewelry designers committed to inclusivity. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to compete in a design challenge and the winner will receive a yearlong Tiffany & Co. design team fellowship and a $50,000 award. Prada expands in Hong Kong
Prada Spa is reportedly renting a two-story retail space in Hong Kong luxury shopping mall K11 Musea. The 8,000-square-foot retail space is expected to open in early 2025. Reports of the new storefront come four years after the closure of Prada’s Hong Kong flagship, followed by two other Prada Hong Kong closures since the pandemic. {Bloomberg/paywalled}
